They said Shannon Rose would be wheelchair-bound and couldn’t be like other folks. Rose, 34, is the founder and owner of Eclectic Media Productions, a rapidly-growing National PR company based in Tampa, Florida. “When I was 12 years old, doctors said I’d be in a wheelchair and wouldn’t be able to do what other kids do.” Rose says. “But the words ‘I can’t’ aren’t in my vocabulary.”

Rose has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which is a connective tissue disorder, characterized by joint hyper mobility, skin extensibility and organs that can rupture. People afflicted can possess a variety of symptoms, mostly having to do with fragile skin and joints that can be very hyper mobile.

Losing his voice for a year, paralysis on and off in both arms, and heart problems including his left diaphragm being paralyzed since age two are some of the struggles Rose has overcome. Rose’s personal battle with Ehlers-Danlos, a battle that he is now winning, led to him being named Ehlers-Danlos Network CARES National Spokesperson.

“I’m very proud.” Rose says of the distinction. “I’m happy to be named the Ehlers Danlos Network CARES National Spokesperson because I feel my story can be inspirational to other sufferers.” Rose says.

I had a devastating experience with an interview for a major TV Network that ultimately led to the end of one career and the beginning of another. What’s worse, it was posted on YouTube and got 4.6 million hits! THANK GOD I had my harp career to fall back on. I recorded “Dream Baby” which is now one of the bestselling children’s CDs in the world!

Who knew I would rebuild my career and life starting with a baby CD! I followed it up with seven more albums and launched Baby Music To Go then God’s Social Network and I launch Get Interns in three weeks.

It was a rainy night in a quiet, suburban, Northern California town. Driving down a typically well-traveled but now deserted road at 1:00 a.m. I spotted a full grown deer on the side of the road, bleeding in a couple of places, and in shock. I quickly pulled over and ran to her side. I patted her to keep her calm, held her head and called 911.

With the rain coming down harder we sat like that for twenty minutes. Me holding her head in my arms and she looking at me with a look of resignation in her eyes. Finally an animal control truck pulled up. The officer was very compassionate to the situation but explained there was nothing he could do. He thought the best thing to do was to carry the deer back in to the field across the road and hope for the best. Out of options; I agreed.

We gently put her down on all fours in the hopes that she could stand. While a little wobbly at first she soon began to regain her strength. When we finally released our grasp she stood for just a moment, took three or four small steps and with one giant leap, bolted in to the open field.

The animal control worker and I were laughing with relief. She was going to be OK. As we stood watching her she suddenly stopped, turned around and came back towards us. With much more confident steps she slowly walked up to me, bent her head and nuzzled her nose against my chest. She then turned slowly and walked away.

The animal control worker was in shock. I had a tear in my eye. She had said “thank you.”

During a Disney vacation in Orlando we lost my middle child’s Teddy Bear “little girl.”

Not only did Disney find her beloved Little Girl and return her to our hotel safe and sound, but they included a 7-page photo montage of “Bear’s Day Out” where she tried to get Splash Mountain and met the engineers on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and tooled around Toontown.
