I heard that a little boy, who was autistic, spoke for the first time after seeing a video that my husband, Tony, and I made of his holiday the year before. We had sent the video to his parents. So the idea was born.
We sold Tony’s Mercedes and bought an 18 year old VW camper van, packed it with video equipment, and drove from our home in Cheshire, England to the Greek island of Lefkas. There, we lived rough for three months, mainly in the camper. We made videos of the island, adding personal moments for people, doing all the editing in the van in the sweltering heat, using a generator. The first night we showed the video on a portable TV, placed above the sink in the VW van, we caused such a sensation in the sleepy little village of Agios Nikitas. And it just grew from there.
I wrote “Chasing Dreams in Lefkas” because I wanted to share all their varied experiences with other dreamers. I hope my book will inspire other people to do something they might never have done. The financial crises changed my life by helping me to become a published author. I am currently writing my fourth book to be published later this year.

“Thirty percent of those who have a ruptured brain aneurysm die before they reach an Emergency Room. Of those who survive and receive emergency care, 30 to 60 percent die. The remaining few commonly have severe impairments in speech, strength, coordination, and memory. For those who survive this devastating illness and return to a normal life, the percentage is even lower….”
My name is Lori Quaranta, I am 52 years old and I am a twenty one year survivor of a ruptured brain aneurysm. I not only survived, I was left with no neurological disabilities; what a blessing to be alive to raise my 18 month old daughter.

After my mother died in January of 2008, I made a habit of recalling the times when I saw her laugh so hard that she cried. One was over forty years ago, when she was watching a TV advertisement. It was an advertisement for the dog food known as Gravy Train. There was a group of ducks and a large dog. The ad suggests that one of the ducks is saying, “What dog? I don’t see a dog.”
The other time was in 2000. She and I looked at some old homework papers my son had turned in when he was in second grade. He had to write a sentence using the word “smell.” Here is what he wrote: “Some sheets smell.” Just the thought of my mother’s laughter brings happiness to me.

My name is Deanna Allen and I am National Director of the fastest growing women’s prison ministry in the country. I am a recovered addict who endured years of physical, sexual, mental and verbal abuse in my childhood. My life was intensely crazy and I am truly blessed to be alive and not in prison.
The flip side of the story is my only sibling who died in prison in 2005. His death is what catapulted me into reaching prisoners face to face. The story of turning those lemons into lemonade can be found in a book being released later this year entitled “Too Soon to Say Goodbye.” How something tragic can be turned into something great.
I have now authored three books – the third will be being released by the end of this year.
