Some of my favorite replies:

What did you like least about your last job? “Everyone wouldn’t stop flirting with me.”

I’m sorry, I’m having trouble understanding you. Is there something in your mouth? “Oh, it’s my new ‘grill.’”

What do you think is the best quality in an employee? “Posture.”
Do you mean composure? “No, posture. Standing up straight, ya know?”

I was a bridesmaid in my best friend’s very formal Catholic wedding years ago and the priest had given special permission for one of the other bridesmaid’s to read a Rod McKuen love poem.

As she started reading, the words seemed different from what she had read the night before - we all realized that she was reading the wrong page when she said, “..but never have I had a love like the love I had for my cat named Sloopy.”

She continued on as if everything was fine, showing more and more emotion as she read, “I ran through the streets calling, Sloopy, Sloopy!” We were all laughing so hard we were crying and our shoulders were shaking.

At the end, the priest looked at all of us and said, “SLOOPY???” The reader of the poem said, “And you were there.”

When my best girlfriend and I were both single and trying the personal ads, we had a routine that we followed with each date. The person not on the date would sit nearby and keep an eye on the situation.

I eventually met and started seeing someone, but my friend was still looking so one night I told my new “boyfriend” that we needed to spend some time in the coffee shop because my friend had a date.

He was confused, and asked why on earth we were going to sit and have coffee but not speak to my friend and her date. I explained what we were doing and he asked
“Isn’t her date going to figure this out?”

To which I replied “You didn’t!” The look of realization on his face was priceless!
