While in a Chinese restaurant, I noticed a man was unable to buy his dumplings for $3.50 because he only had a credit card. The store required a minimum purchase of $12 to use a credit card. I walked up to the counter and gave the restaurant owner a five dollar bill and said “it’s on me”. The man got his dumplings and all was right with the world.
When the man left, the owner came over and asked me why I paid for the man’s food. I said, “I was feeling kind of down about my life and all of the work that I have left to do tonight and the challenges that have come up this morning. Then that man came in and he didn’t have $5 for food. I suddenly realized that I DID have $5 for food. And not only that, I had another $5 that I wouldn’t really miss if I paid for his food too. So by not having money for food, that man has made my day better by providing me with some needed perspective.
That was well worth the five dollars.” So here’s my challenge for you today. What are you looking at in your life that’s bringing you down? Now consider not having five dollars to buy food. Feel any better? I know I do.

For weeks all the Pioneer Girls were anticipating the annual Mother Daughter Banquet; all the girls except for me. My Mom had just passed away a few months earlier. Thinking about sitting alone and watching all the other girls talking, laughing and eating with their Moms made my heart ache and tears come to my eyes. Finally the day approached.
Standing all alone with my name tag on and my place card in my hand, my heart started to ache. Just as the tears were about to escape from my eyes, a woman walked up to me. She said, “I don’t have a little girl here today. Could I sit with you?” My heart ached for her. Not having a little girl of her own must be as bad for her as not having my Mom was for me. I smiled at the woman and said, “Yes.” She took my hand and helped me find our table.

Pizza Beer is a beer that was created by my wife and me in our St Charles, IL garage. Exhausting our efforts & pretty much getting giggles from the pros, we were on our own. Anyway, a week into fermenting, we knew we had something special. We realized that we had actually brewed up the World’s First Culinary Beer.
Through dedication and great connections, like a restaurant owner named Frankie, our Pizza Beer Pizza concept began to gain enthusiasm and popularity. Served in a wine glass, the Beer has become a favorite among the locals and at the restaurant and has actually surpassed other beer company sales such as Bud & Stone.
Frankie’s restaurant, which sells the Pizza Beer Pizza, is seeing a wonderful increase in sales and most recently was catered by a very high profile group of people at a nearby ranch. They liked it so much that I received a “Thank You Call” personally from the gentleman in charge of the event.

I was in a bar a few years ago with a guy I played in a band with. The band that was playing at the bar invited us to do a song with them. I sang one song and the crowd started yelling for us to play our hit song called “The Hump.” It was a Blue’s Brothers moment.
I reunited the band, have played with the Beach Boys, purchased a hot rod hearse, have been on the Today Show and we’ve rocked thousands at events and festivals. By the way, I’m over 60 years old. The band is called The Invictas.
