On a nice spring day in 1996, my husband Allen Anderson and I were walking around Lake Harriet in Minneapolis with our yellow Lab, Taylor. I enjoyed seeing the big, goofy grin on Taylor’s face. Then people began to stop us to ask if we knew our dog was smiling. We started listing spiritual qualities we were gaining by observing and living with our pets – love, gratitude, creativity, joy — to name a few. We wondered if other people felt they were learning spiritual lessons from animals.
After the walk, we went home and made up a flyer and put out questions on Internet animal chat groups. Within 60 days we had hundreds of responses from all over the world.
We knew we had to share these wonderfully inspiring stories of animals as spiritual beings. We started our first printed newsletter to publish the stories. Within a year we had about 1,000 subscribers. This led to our first book, Angel Animals, and the founding of Angel Animals Network.
This year, we’re working on the fourteenth book in the popular and award-winning Angel Animals series published by New World Library.

My father was in the Navy long before emails, so he found out I was born after his ship arrived back in San Diego. My mother’s friends stood with a sign at the San Diego port: “LTCDR Buc, it’s a girl!”
Many years later, I was assigned as a civilian aboard a Navy ship leaving the San Diego port. A friend of mine snapped a photo of me on the exact spot where Dad saw the sign 43 years ago. What a great way to bond with Dad, and thank him for his service!

In 1990, while working with disabled children in my horseback therapy program, I ‘heard’ a non-verbal disabled child. We carried on a wonderful conversation. It didn’t dawn on me that I was hearing him until one of my volunteers pointed it out to me.
From that one, life-changing moment, my life has never been the same. I am now a professional psychic, medium and pet psychic, specializing in communicating with people who cannot, such as those in a coma, PVS, Alzheimer’s, dementia and autism. I thoroughly enjoy being able to be The Messenger between loved ones and helping them to heal.

I needed to leave my marriage and career and wasn’t doing it. I was in three car accidents in 6 days. However, despite being a psychotherapist, I responded like anyone fearful of change and did nothing until after the third accident.
I was in my brother’s car, in the back seat, and we were hit by a drunk driver. Within months, I sold my practice, left my husband, and left the home I shared with him to live on another planet called Los Angeles.
